What is Charmeuse?
Charmeuse is a lightweight fabric made from silk, rayon, cotton, or synthetic fibers. It has a soft, shiny, and slightly slippery texture. The fabric is quite fragile and can be easily damaged by strong cleaning agents, so extra care must be taken when dealing with mascara stains.
Ingredients Needed
- White vinegar
- Liquid dish detergent
- OxiClean powder
- Cold water
- Cotton swabs/cloth
Instructions
- Mix equal parts of white vinegar and liquid dish detergent. Test the mixture on an inconspicuous area first to ensure that it won’t damage the fabric.
- Dab the stain with the mixture using a cotton swab or cloth.
- Allow mixture to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
- If the stain still remains, mix one part OxiClean powder with two parts cold water. Apply the mixture on the stain and allow it to sit for 15 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
- Repeat the steps as necessary until the stain is fully removed.
Tips
- Always test the cleaning solutions on an inconspicuous area before applying it directly on the stain.
- When applying cleaning solutions, use a dabbing motion rather than rubbing the stain to prevent the color from spreading.
- Don’t use hot water as this may set the stain and make it more difficult to remove.
- For tough stains, you may need to repeat the steps several times before the stain is completely gone.
