Whether you were in a hurry or your mascara just wasn’t behaving, it’s inevitable that a blotch or two of mascara may land on your clothing someday. But luckily, cleaning up those mascara stains is far from difficult.

Tools and Supplies

The first step to removing mascara from your capris is to gather the necessary tools and supplies. You’ll need:

  • A pair of tweezers
  • A few cotton pads
  • A mild detergent
  • White vinegar
  • Stain-removal solution

Instructions

  1. Start by using a pair of tweezers to gently remove any of the excess mascara residue that is still stuck to the fabric.
  2. Once the excess is removed, dampen one of the cotton pads with warm water and a few drops of mild detergent. Gently rub pad over the stain to loosen the mascara further.
  3. Replace the damp pad with a dry one and press firmly against the stain, absorbing what you can. Repeat a few times with clean, dry cotton pads.
  4. If the stain has lightened but still persists, mix equal parts white vinegar and cold water. Soak a new pad in this solution and rub over the stain. This should help lift and dissolve the remaining mascara residue.
  5. Finally, spray a stain-removal solution onto the area and use a dry cloth to dab away any remaining residue. Then, pop your capris into wash and air-dry or tumble-dry to finish off the cleaning process.

Conclusion

Mascara stains can be a headache, but they don’t have to be! By following these simple steps, you can get rid of pesky mascara stains—and save your capris—in no time.
