Quick and Easy Tips to Erase Mascara Stains from Calico Fabrics
Accidents happen, but that doesn't mean your calico fabric has to suffer the consequences forever. Removing mascara stains from calico fabrics can be a tricky process, but it is possible. Here's how.

What You Will Need
- Warm water
- Mild detergent or laundry stain remover
- Soft brush or toothbrush
- Laundry pre-treatment
- Chlorine bleach and 1 gallon of warm water (optional)
- White vinegar
Instructions
- Scrape away any excess mascara with edge of a spoon or a butter knife.
- Mix a solution of 1 tablespoon mild detergent and 1 cup warm water.
- Soak the fabric in the mixture for 20 minutes.
- Using a soft brush or toothbrush, scrub the stain with the detergent solution.
- Repeat the process until the stain is gone.
- Rinse the fabric with cold water.
- If the stain persists, apply a laundry pre-treatment product to the stained area.
- Using a soft brush or toothbrush, scrub the stained area until the pre-treatment is worked into fabric.
- Allow the pre-treatment to work on stain for 15 minutes before laundering.
- For tough stains, mix 1/3 cup chlorine bleach with 1 gallon of warm water.
- Soak fabric in the bleach mixture for 30 minutes.
- If the stain persists after laundering, apply a mixture of 1 cup white vinegar and 1 cup warm water to stain.
- Allow it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
