Gather Materials

  • Liquid laundry detergent, preferably a color-safe variety
  • A clean, damp white cloth or sponge
  • Bowl of cold water
  • Small brush

Preparing Your Briefs

Start by running some cold water over the affected area of the briefs. This helps to loosen the mascara and make it easier to remove. Take a clean damp white cloth or sponge and dab the stain firmly with mixture of detergent and water. This will help lift the stain and start breaking down the mascara particles.

Scrubbing Away the Stain

Take a small brush and work the detergent into the fabric, scrubbing away at the stain. You don't want to be too vigorous at this stage as it could damage the fabric. Keep testing the fabric to check that you don't scrub away fabric's material. Once you feel that you have worked mixture sufficiently into the fabric, rinse out the detergent with cold water.

Drying and Checking

It is important to thoroughly dry the briefs after you have finished washing them. You can either air-dry on a flat surface or tumble dry on a low-heat setting. Once briefs are dry, check to see if the stain has completely gone. If not, you may have to repeat the process.

Additional Tips

  • If you don't have a small brush handy, you can use an old toothbrush instead.
  • If the stain persists, you can try using a stain remover or rubbing a little bit of alcohol onto the fabric. However, be sure to test any cleaning solution on an inconspicuous part of briefs first.
  • Be sure to follow care label instructions when washing your brief.
