Your first step is to blot the area with a absorbent cloth. Don’t rub it, as this can cause the mascara to sink further into the fabric, which in turn makes it harder to remove. Be sure to blot from the outer edges of the stain, towards its center.

Next, mix one tablespoon of liquid laundry detergent and two cups of warm water in a bowl. Submerge the stained area in this solution and let it soak for 15 minutes. Rub the mixture delicately into the fabric to ensure all parts of the stain are evenly exposed to the solution.

When finished, rinse the fabric with a clean, damp cloth and then lay it on top of an absorbent towel. Press another towel over the fabric to blot it dry. Once it has dried completely, brush fabric gently with a soft bristled brush.

If stain remains after doing this, apply a bit of rubbing alcohol to it and allow it to sit for a minute or two. Blot it again with a damp cloth and then use a brush to fluff up fibers.

If that doesn’t do the trick, you may need to use a specialist cleaner. These cleaners are designed to break down stubborn stains that regular solutions can’t tackle. Before using one, be sure to read the instructions carefully.

By following these simple steps, you can restore your Battenberg lace to its former beauty. With a bit of care and patience, you’ll have the stain removed in no time!
