You will want to do this first and foremost. Removing the excess mascara from your ball gown is important. Use a blunt object like a butter knife or spoon to gently scrape away any residue. Be careful not to pull or tug at the fabric as this can cause it to rip.
Once you have removed the excess mascara, you can start to spot-treat any remaining stain. Begin by applying a small amount of liquid detergent directly on the stained area. Then, using a damp, white cloth, rub the detergent into the stain in a circular motion. Allow the detergent to sit on the stain for approximate 10 minutes before rinsing it off with lukewarm water.
Once you have finished spot-treating the stained areas, rinse your ball gown with cool water and let it air dry. Do not put it in the dryer, as this can cause heat damage to fabric. If the stain remains after drying, repeat steps two and three until the stain has been completely removed.
