Step 1: Blot Up the Excess Mascara

Take a clean, dry cloth and gently blot up as much of the mascara that is on the appliance surface. You may need to repeat this step several times to make sure all of the liquid mascara has been lifted off of the appliance.

Step 2: Make a Mild Degreasing Solution

Mix one teaspoon of dishwashing liquid with two cups of lukewarm water. You can use any mild dish soap such as Dawn or Palmolive.

Step 3: Soak a Cloth in the Solution

Soak a clean cloth in the solution and wring it out. Then, gently scrub the stained area in a circular motion to lift the stain. Be sure to rinse the cloth out frequently in order to prevent the soap from damaging the appliance's surface.

Step 4: Use a Cleaning Towel

Once the stain has been removed, use a damp cleaning towel to wipe away any remaining residue. Finish by drying the appliance with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Step 5: Repeat if Necessary

If the stain persists, you may need to repeat steps 2-4. If the stain is really stubborn, you can try using a paste of baking soda and water applied directly to the stain.

Step 6: Pray it Doesn’t Happen Again

It’s always best to avoid this mess altogether, so be careful when handling mascara and other beauty products around your kitchen appliances. Have some cloths handy and make sure you clean up any spills quickly.
