Whether you've got makeup stains from creating your latest look or accidentally transferring your makeup to surfaces, these easy steps can help you get things back to looking fresh and clean.

What You'll Need:

  • Mild dish soap
  • Soft cloths
  • Cotton swabs

Step 1: Gently Soak the Acrylic

Begin by dabbing stained area with a damp cloth. Don't scrub, as this could damage the surface. Instead, allow the water to loosen the stain and saturate it.

Step 2: Gently Scrub with Soap

Next, gently scrub the stain with a soft cloth and mild dish soap. The dish soap will help break down the oils from the mascara and remove them from the acrylic. Keep rubbing in a circular motion until stain has been removed.

Step 3: Rinse with Water

Rinse the area with water and use a soft cloth to wipe away any remaining soap. You may need to repeat process several times to fully remove the stain.

Step 4: Deep Clean with Cotton Swabs

If you still see traces of stains, use a cotton swab to deep clean the area. Dip the cotton swab in some mild dish soap and again scrub in a circular motion. Finish by rinsing the area with water and wiping with a soft cloth.

Bonus Tip: soap residue—How to Avoid It

When cleaning acrylic surfaces, make sure to rinse away any soap residue by running the cloth under cold water for a few seconds. This will help prevent streaks and spots from appearing on the surface when it dries.
