When it comes to removing marker stains from fabrics, the key is to act quickly. As soon as you notice ink stain, grab a clean white cloth and some rubbing alcohol. Blot stained area with the cloth and then add a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the cloth and continue blotting the stain. The rubbing alcohol should help lift away the marker stain.

If that method doesn’t work, try using a mild detergent and warm water. Soak the stained area in a bowl of warm water with a teaspoon of detergent for about 10 minutes. After it has soaked, rub the area with a soft cloth and stain should come off.

In some cases, a commercial stain remover may be needed. Many of these products are specifically designed to break down tough stains such as ink from markers. Follow the directions on the bottle and you should have success at removing the stain.

If all else fails, it might be time to take your trench coat to a professional dry cleaner. Professional dry cleaners have access to specialized tools and cleaning supplies that can help remove the toughest of stains.
