How to Remove Marker Stains from a Tracksuit

If someone has drawn on your tracksuit with a permanent marker, you don't have to give up and toss it in the trash - there are ways to save the garment. The trick is to act quickly, as permanent marker pigment can set in further longer it remains on fabrics. Read on to learn how to remove marker stains from a tracksuit.

Things You'll Need:

  • White vinegar
  • Hairspray
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Sponge or soft cloth
  • Laundry detergent

Step 1: Try Hairspray

Spray hairspray directly onto stain and scrub with a sponge or soft cloth. Rinse off with warm water. Repeat if necessary.

Step 2: Apply White Vinegar

Fill a bowl with one cup of white vinegar for every quart of warm water. Dip a sponge or cloth into the solution and rub onto the stain. Rinse off with warm water. Repeat if necessary.

Step 3: Rub With Rubbing Alcohol

Wet a sponge or cloth with rubbing alcohol and rub onto the stain. Rinse off with warm water. Repeat if necessary.

Step 4: Machine Wash

If all else fails, machine wash on a warm setting with laundry detergent. Pour a cup of white vinegar into the machine before washing and again into the rinse cycle. This will help break down the marker stain. Hang to dry.
