Removing Marker Stains from Ties

  • Start of by laying the tie on an absorbent surface or towel.
  • Apply denatured alcohol directly onto the stain using a cotton swab.
  • Let alcohol sit for a few minutes and then blot it away with a cloth or towel.
  • If needed, repeat the process until the stain is gone.

Cleaning Tie Stains with White Vinegar

  • Soak tie in warm water and white vinegar for 15-20 minutes.
  • Rinse the tailored piece in a sink filled with cold water.
  • Gently scrub the affected area with a brush dipped in warm water and a mild detergent.
  • Rinse the tie in cold water.
  • Air dry or dry the piece on a low setting in the dryer.

Cleaning Tie Stains with Baking Soda

  • Mix one tablespoon of baking soda with two tablespoons of water.
  • Dab the mixture onto the stained area with a clean cloth.
  • Gently rub until the stain begins to disappear.
  • Rinse area with cold water and air dry or tumble dry at a low temperature.
