The first step in removing a marker stain from your tie is to use a damp cloth or paper towel to try to absorb as much of the ink as possible. Do not scrub the ink, however, because this may cause it to spread further.
Next, mix together a solution of ¼ cup of laundry detergent, 1 tablespoon of white vinegar, 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 quart of warm water. Dip a new soft cloth into the solution, then wring out most of the liquid before applying it to the stained area of the tie. Allow it to sit for 10-20 minutes before seeing if the stain has been removed.
Once you have applied stain remover, you will want to wash the tie in your washing machine. Use a mild detergent and warm water. Make sure to allow tie to air dry afterward instead of using the dryer.
After washing your tie, check to see if the marker stain is still present. If it is, repeat steps two and three. The stain should be completely gone after a few attempts.
Removing marker stains from a tie is easier than it may seem. Just follow these four steps and you will have a stain-free tie in no time.
