We all know that sneakers come in contact with many surfaces and sometimes unwanted marks can be left behind. If a marker is left on the sneaker, it won't come off without the right cleaning method.
Removing marker stains from sneakers with liquids is possible. To remove marker stains from fabric sneakers, simply mix a solution of one part vinegar and one part water.
Using a cloth or an old toothbrush, dab the solution onto the stained area and allow it to sit for a few minutes with the liquid covering the stain. After a few minutes wipe away the solution with a damp cloth and most of the marker stain should be gone.
For leather sneakers, use a solution of warm water and a few drops of mild dish soap. Using a cloth or an old toothbrush, dip into the solution and gently scrub stained area. Once again, after wiping away solution with a damp cloth, the marker stain should be gone.
If the above methods are not successful, there are more powerful solvents available such as rubbing alcohol or acetone. In the case of fabric sneakers, the rubbing alcohol is the better option and for leather sneakers, the acetone is the better option.
To begin, pour a small amount of solvent directly onto the stained area. Using an old toothbrush, gently rub the area in circular motions, making sure to keep the abrasive part of the bristles away from the fabric or leather. After a few minutes, wipe away solvent with a damp cloth.
Finish by laundering the sneaker if it is fabric and conditioning the leather if the sneaker is leather. This will help to protect material from future stains.
