What You'll Need

  • Dry cloth
  • Warm water
  • Mild detergent
  • Olive oil (optional)

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Using a dry cloth, gently blot at the marker stain to remove any excess marker. Do not rub the stain as this could spread it further or cause it to become set into the fabric instead.

Step 2: Pre-treat With Detergent

Mix a small amount of mild detergent with warm water and apply this mixture to the stained area. Let the solution sit for a few minutes before proceeding.

Step 3: Rinse and Repeat

Rinse away the detergent mixture with warm water and repeat Steps 2 & 3 until the stain is gone. It may take multiple attempts depending on how stubborn the stain is.

Step 4: Remove Stubborn Stains With Olive Oil

For particularly stubborn stains, try using a small amount of olive oil. Apply the oil to the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before rinsing away with warm water. Repeat as needed until the stain is gone.
