Markers are known for their bright and bold colors, which make them perfect for creating detailed artworks and decorating items. Unfortunately, markers can also leave stubborn stains on materials like fabric. It is especially difficult to remove marker stains from delicate fabrics such as silk tussah. If not cleaned correctly, marker stains on silk tussah fabric can be quite unsightly.
Step 1: Spot test the cleaner on an unnoticeable part of the silk tussah fabric to make sure that it does not cause any damage. Only proceed to use the cleaner when you are satisfied with results of the test.
Step 2: Prepare a mild solution of dish soap and cold water. Dip a soft cloth into the solution and gently scrub stained areas of fabric with it. Make sure to do this gently so that the fabric does not get damaged with rough handling.
Step 3: Rinse off the dish soap solution using cold water. Gently pat the fabric with a damp cloth to remove any excess moisture.
Step 4: Take a small amount of rubbing alcohol and dilute it with an equal amount of cold water. Dip a clean cloth in the solution and dab it on the stained area until the stain has disappeared. Then rinse off the solution with cold water and pat it dry again.
Step 5: Hang the fabric in a well-ventilated area and let it air-dry naturally. Do not expose the fabric to direct sunlight as this could damage the fabric.
