- White vinegar
- Cold water
- Cloth laundry bag
Steps To Cleaning a Marker Stain From Silk Crepe De Chine
- Begin by using a hair dryer to heat the stain. This should help to lift it up and make it easier to treat.
- Once it's been heated, use a clean cloth to blot the area and absorb as much of the marker as you can.
- Mix a small amount of laundry detergent with warm water in a bowl. Soak your cloth in the mixture and use it to gently rub the stain in a circular motion until it has been loosened or removed.
- If stain still remains, try mixing OxiClean powder with cold water in a separate bowl. Soak a clean cloth in this mixture and rub it over the stain until it is no longer visible.
- If the stain is still not coming out, try using white vinegar. Mix one part white vinegar with two parts cold water in a bowl. Soak a cloth in the mixture and dab it over the stain until it has been completely removed.
- Once you have treated the stain, place silk crepe de chine garment in a cloth laundry bag and launder it in the washing machine with cold water.
Additional Tips and Precautions
- Always test any cleaning solution in an inconspicuous part of the fabric first to make sure it won't damage the material.
- Avoid using hot water when laundering silk, as this can cause shrinking and fading.
- Never use bleach or harsh chemical solutions to treat marker stains on silk.
