Start by testing an inconspicuous spot on your shantung fabric to make sure that the cleaning method won’t cause discoloration.
Take a clean, white cloth and blot the stained area gently to remove as much of the marker as possible. Do not rub or scrub the stain as it could cause it to spread or set deeper into the fabric.
Choose a good stain remover meant for fabrics, such as Shout or Zout, and apply it directly onto the stain. Let it sit for about 5 minutes.
After 5 minutes, rinse the area with lukewarm water. Make sure not to bleach the shantung fabric as it may damage it.
Put the shantung fabric in washing machine with detergent, and wash according to care instructions.
Once the fabric is washed, dry it at a low heat setting or air-dry in the sun.
After the fabric is dried, check to see if stain has been removed. If it has not, repeat the steps.
