The first step in removing a marker stain from sarong fabric is to blot the stain with a clean cloth. Doing so can help absorb some of the ink or dye. Avoid rubbing the cloth in circles or scrubbing the stain; this could cause stain to spread further.
Next, apply white vinegar directly to the stain. Use a cotton ball or Q-tip to gently rub the vinegar into the fabric. Continue until the mark is no longer visible. The vinegar may also help to remove any lingering odors.
After applying the vinegar, rinse the fabric with cold water. This should help to remove any leftover residue from white vinegar.
Once you’ve rinsed the fabric, it’s time to wash it with a mild liquid detergent. Use a gentle cycle on your washing machine and do not add bleach. Air dry the fabric after the wash cycle is complete.
