But don’t lose hope! There are various methods available for removing marker stains from a sari without causing any further damage. Depending on the extent of the stain, the following tips should help to restore your sari to its former glory.
What You Will Need
- Nail polish remover (without acetone)
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Spoonful of liquid dishwasher detergent
- Cup of warm water
- Clean cloth
Directions
- Mix together one part nail polish remover with two parts hydrogen peroxide.
- Dip a clean cloth in this solution and rub it gently over the affected area. Do not rub too vigorously, as this could cause further damage to the sari.
- Mix one spoonful of liquid dishwasher detergent into a cup of warm water.
- Soak the stained area in this mixture for 10 minutes.
- Gently scrub the area with a clean cloth until the stain lifts.
- Rinse the sari under cold running water.
- Repeat steps 1 to 6 if the stain persists.
- Allow the sari to air dry.
