Removing Marker Stains from a Polo Shirt
- The first step is to place the stained area of the shirt on a flat surface. Place a damp towel underneath the fabric to protect surface you’re working on.
- Gently rub a small amount of liquid detergent into stain. Use an old toothbrush or cotton swab to work the detergent into the fibers of the fabric. Rub gently in a circular motion.
- Let the detergent sit on the stain for 10-15 minutes.
- Rinse the stained area with cold water. If stain isn’t completely gone, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the stain is removed.
- After the stain is gone, launder the shirt according to the care instructions on the tag. Line dry or tumble dry on low heat.
Additional Tips
- If regular dish soap or detergent doesn't do the trick, try using a special stain-removing product like Shout or OxiClean .
- If you catch the stain early, it may come out more easily. If the ink has had time to set into the fabric, it will be more difficult to remove.
- Be sure to test any stain-removing product on fabric before using it directly on stain.
- If all else fails, take the shirt to a professional dry cleaner.
