Removing marker stains from pillows can be a challenge, but with some simple techniques it is possible to get rid of them. Whether it’s a permanent marker or washable marker, here are some easy steps to make those stains vanish in no time.

Step 1: Scrape

The first step is the most important one; you need to scrape affected area with a blunt knife. Be sure not to press too hard so you don’t damage fabric of your pillow. If the stain is dry, try using a dull-edged butter knife or spoon but be careful not to tear the fabric.

Step 2: Pre-Treat

Once you’ve scrapped away as much of the marker as possible, you can pre-treat the remaining stain with dish soap or laundry detergent. Apply the soap and let it sit for a few minutes before scrubbing gently.

Step 3: Wash

For most types of pillow fabric, the safest option is hand-washing. Use lukewarm water and add a bit of laundry detergent. Soak the pillow for 15 minutes before scrubbing stained area with a soft toothbrush. Rinse pillow with cold water.

Step 4: Dry

After washing, hang your pillow up to dry in a well-ventilated area. Do not place it in a dryer as the heat can set stain further. Once the pillow is completely dry, check that the marker stain has disappeared and if not repeat the above steps.

Conclusion

With right instructions, marker stains can be easily removed from pillows. Just remember to be gentle and use right cleaning products for the fabric type. With a few simple steps, you can restore your pillow back to its original condition!
