First and foremost, use a clean cloth or paper towel to dab the stained area with rubbing alcohol. This should cause stain to lighten or completely disappear.
If the stain remains after step one, pre-treat the stain with a detergent. Use an enzyme-based liquid laundry detergent, as it will be best equipped to break down stain. Put a few drops of detergent directly onto the stain and gently rub in with a sponge. To prevent stain from spreading, move inwards towards center of the stain.
Put the stained pajamas in the washing machine and select hottest temperature setting recommended on the care label. Be sure to use the correct amount of laundry detergent and follow the other instructions on the care label.
If the stain persists, repeat steps 1-3 as needed, then check to make sure the stain has been successfully eliminated.
The best way to prevent marker stains from being a problem is to act quickly when they occur. As soon as you notice a marker stain on your pajama fabric, treat it immediately.
