Before attempting to remove the stain, make sure you know what type of fabric your oxford is made of. This is because different fabrics require different treatment. For example, if your oxford is made of wool, you may need to employ special techniques.
Once you’ve identified the fabric, take a clean cloth or sponge and blot the area around the marker stain. If the spill isn’t too large, you can use a paper towel. Make sure to dab rather than rub, as rubbing can cause stain to spread.
Mix a small amount of mild detergent with some warm water and apply it to the stained area using a sponge or cloth. Let the solution sit for five to ten minutes before rinsing with cold water.
If the stain still remains, try using a scrub brush and mild detergent to scrub the area. Apply light pressure and select a spot away from main stain in case the scrubbing causes the stain to spread.
If the stain still remains after scrubbing, try applying white vinegar to area with a cloth. Allow the vinegar to sit for several minutes before wiping away with a damp cloth. If necessary, repeat this step until the stain is gone.
With these few simple steps, you should be able to successfully remove marker stains from your oxford fabric. Don't forget to test any cleaning solution on a discreet area before using it, and remember to use cold water when rinsing.
