Mesh fabrics are appealing because of their airy feel, but they can be tricky to clean if you happen to spill a marker or other ink-based item onto the fabric. However, with a few simple steps, you can learn how to get marker stains out of mesh fabric for good.
What You Will Need:
- Clean cloth or sponge
- Glass cleaner (ammonia-free)
- Dish soap
- Baking soda (optional)
Directions:
- First, take a damp cloth and blot the stained area, being sure not to rub the stain as that could cause it to spread and/or set further.
- Once the spot is blotted, spray glass cleaner onto stained area and let it sit for a minute or two.
- With the damp cloth, scrub the area in a circular motion until the stain starts to come off.
- Mix a small amount of dish soap with warm water and use a clean cloth or sponge to dab the sudsy mixture onto the stain.
- Gently scrub the stain with the damp cloth.
- If the stain persists, mix a paste of baking soda and water and apply it directly to the stain. Rub gently with your fingers or a cloth, and then rinse with water.
- Finally, let the fabric air dry completely before returning it to use.
By following these steps, you can successfully clean marker stains off of mesh fabrics. Remember to always test the cleaning solution in an inconspicuous place before using it on the fabric, and to never rub the stain firmly or vigorously as that could cause it to penetrate the fabric.
