If the stains are still wet, it's important to act quickly to avoid a permanent set. Blot the area with a clean cloth to absorb as much of the excess moisture as possible. Try to avoid rubbing the fabric, as this may spread the stain.
There are a variety of household items that can help tackle the stain. A diluted bleach solution works great for light-colored denim, while a mild detergent is a better pick for darker denim. For older or more stubborn stains, try using either rubbing alcohol or acetone.
Once you've selected your cleaning solution, carefully apply it directly to the stain using a soft cloth or cotton swab. Use circular motions, working from the outside in to avoid spreading the stain. Make sure to use as little liquid as you can, as too much liquid may cause the dye to run.
For best results, let the solution sit on the fabric for at least five minutes. This will give the cleaning agent time to break down stain and make it easier to remove. Be sure to check the fabric regularly to ensure that the solution isn't damaging fabric.
Once the five minutes have passed, rinse fabric with warm water. If the stain is still there, try repeating the cleaning process until the stain is gone. If the stain persists, try combining two different solutions, such as a mixture of bleach and detergent.
Once the stain is gone, dry it with a clean cloth before wearing. To keep your jeans looking their best, follow the best care practices indicated by the manufacturer.
