When markers and lace combine, it can be a mess! Fortunately, removing marker stains from lace doesn’t have to be complicated or time-consuming. Here are a few simple steps to follow.

Step 1: Pre-Treat the Stain with Detergent

First, you'll want to pre-treat the stain with detergent. Use a mild detergent mixed with lukewarm water, and apply it directly to the stained area. Gently massage it in using your fingers or a soft-bristled toothbrush. Once done, let the detergent sit for 10 minutes. This will allow it to penetrate the stain and help break it up.

Step 2: Launder the Item with Oxygen Bleach

After pre-treating, you'll want to launder item with oxygen bleach. Oxygen bleach is typically sold as a powder, and can be found in most large supermarkets. Before laundering, check the item's label for any special instructions, such as whether the item should be hand washed or machine washed. Follow instructions on oxygen bleach package. Oxygen bleach is great for removing stains from delicate fabrics, as it is gentler than chlorine bleach.

Step 3: Air Dry the Item

The last step is air drying the item. It's best not to put delicate fabrics, such as lace, in the dryer as the heat can cause damage. Hang the item in a well-ventilated area and let it air dry. When it's finished, inspect to make sure the marker stain has been removed.
