The first step to removing marker stains is to blot the stain using a cloth or paper towel. Start at edges of the stain and work your way inwards, making sure not to spread the stain further. If the stain is still wet, you can also use a hairdryer to help set the stain before you move onto the next step.
Once the stain has been blotted, use a cotton swab or cloth soaked in rubbing alcohol to gently dab the stain. The rubbing alcohol will help loosen and lift the stain from the fabric. Be sure to use a clean section of the cloth or cotton swab each time to avoid spreading stain further.
After you’ve applied the rubbing alcohol to the stain, rinse the fabric in cold water. This should help to further lift the stain from the fabric. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps two and three until the stain is completely gone.
Next, apply a small amount of laundry detergent to the stain and rub it into the fabric using a scrub brush or cloth. Allow the detergent to sit for a few minutes, then rinse off with cold water.
Finally, air dry the hat by laying it flat on a towel and allowing it to air dry. If the stain is still visible, repeat steps two through five until it is completely removed.
