Step 1: Treat the Stain Immediately

If possible, try to treat the marker stain as soon as you notice it. This will give you the best chance of removing the stain. Using a clean cloth or paper towel, carefully blot the stain to absorb any excess marker.

Step 2: Pre-Treat the Stain

There are several pre-treating agents available for stain removal. These are designed to break up the marker pigment and make it easier to remove. Some products you can use for this purpose include vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and dish soap.

Step 3: Wash Gown

Once you've applied your chosen pre-treating product, you're ready to wash gown. It's important that you don't put your evening gown in a regular washing machine. Instead, use a hand-wash cycle in your machine or take the gown to a dry cleaner. Don't use a regular detergent; instead, choose a specialized detergent formulated specifically for delicate fabrics.

Step 4: Air Dry

Once you've washed your evening gown, do not put it in dryer. Air drying is the best way to ensure that the garment doesn't shrink. If the stain persists after air drying, repeat steps 1-3 until the stain has been removed.
