Supplies You'll Need

  • Bowl
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Warm water
  • Mild detergent
  • Clean cloth
  • White vinegar (optional)

Step 1: Blot the Stain

Using a clean cloth, blot the area around the stain to absorb as much of the marker as possible. Be careful not to rub the stain to prevent it from smearing and becoming more difficult to remove.

Step 2: Create a Cleaning Solution

Fill a bowl with equal parts rubbing alcohol and warm water. You can also add a few drops of mild detergent to create a stronger solution; however, the alcohol should be enough to get the job done.

Step 3: Soak Stain

Soak a cloth in the cleaning solution and then press it against the stained area. Use gentle pressure to ensure that the solution penetrates into the fabric without damaging it. Allow the area to sit for at least 10 minutes before proceeding to the next step.

Step 4: Rinse and Dry

Rinse the stained area with warm water and then dry it with a clean cloth. If any stains remain, repeat steps 2 and 3 until the area is completely clean. If necessary, you can also use white vinegar to remove any lingering stains.
