Cleaning Method 1: Rubbing Alcohol

One of the most common household items for cleaning up marker stains is rubbing alcohol. Dab some on the stain and let it sit for a few minutes before blotting it away with a paper towel or rag. Repeat this process until stain is gone.

Cleaning Method 2: Hairspray & Vinegar

If you don’t have rubbing alcohol on hand, you can use a combination of hairspray and vinegar instead. Apply the hairspray directly to the stain and then spritz some white vinegar over it. Then, scrub the stained area with a soft-bristled brush or cloth and rinse with cool water.

Cleaning Method 3: Dish Soap & Baking Soda

For tougher marker stains, try using a mixture of dish soap and baking soda. Combine equal parts dish soap and baking soda to form a paste and then apply it to the stain. Gently rub paste into the fabric, rinse off with cool water, then launder as usual.

Cleaning Method 4: Commercial Stain Remover

If all else fails, you can try using a commercial stain remover. Read the instructions on the product packaging carefully before applying it to your garment to ensure you are using it correctly.

Additional Tips

  • Always read clothing care labels before attempting to remove stains.
  • Test cleaning solutions on a hidden area of the garment first to make sure they won't cause discolouration or damage.
  • Be sure to launder garments once the stain has been removed.
