The first step to removing the marker stain is to gather all the supplies you need. You'll need a clean cloth, rubbing alcohol, detergent, and an old toothbrush. Before proceeding, test a small area of the fabric with the rubbing alcohol to make sure it doesn't cause any damage.
Once you have supplies necessary to remove the stain, you need to prepare the coat for cleaning. If the coat is machine washable, you'll need to turn it inside out before proceeding. If it isn't, you'll need to spot treat the stain. First, wet the stain with rubbing alcohol and let it sit for five minutes.
Once the stain has had time to soak in the rubbing alcohol, take the old toothbrush and scrub the stain. The bristles of the toothbrush will help remove the marker from the fabric. Once you're done scrubbing, rinse the fabric with lukewarm water.
After rinsing away the marker and rubbing alcohol, apply some mild detergent to stained area and scrub it gently with cloth. Then, rinse coat again and inspect the stain. If it's still there, repeat steps three and four until stain is gone. Finally, wash the coat as directed and let it air dry.
