Bodycon dresses are a cool, stylish and comfortable clothing choice for women of all ages. Unfortunately, mishaps such as marker stains can ruin the fabric and take away from the dress' appeal. But rather than throw out your beloved dress, try these steps to remove marker stains:

Step 1: Identify the Fabric Type

The first step in removing marker stains from a bodycon dress is to determine the type of fabric it’s made from. Removing marker stains from different fabric types requires different approaches:

  • If dress is made of cotton, linen or rayon, you can use cold or warm water and detergent.
  • For silk or wool bodycon dresses, use cool or lukewarm water and a mild detergent.
  • Synthetic fabrics such as polyester and nylon require the use of rubbing alcohol.

Step 2: Prepare Your Cleaning Solution

Once you’ve identified the type of fabric, you can prepare the cleaning solution specific to that fabric. Make sure you use cool or lukewarm water, depending on fabric type, and mix in a mild detergent. If you're using rubbing alcohol, combine it with cold water in equal parts.

Step 3: Apply the Solution to the Stain

Place some paper towels beneath the stained area to absorb any excess liquid. Then, use a soft-bristled brush to lightly scrub the cleaning solution into stain until the area is saturated. Using your finger or a cotton swab, gently dab the stained area until it begins to disappear. Make sure you don’t rub stain too hard or use a scrubbing brush, as this could damage fabric.

Step 4: Rinse & Dry

After the marker stain is removed, rinse the area with cool water using a damp cloth. Pat the area with a dry cloth and let the dress air dry or tumble dry on low heat.
