Before moving on, it’s important to be aware of the material of the belt. Depending on fabric of the belt, you may need to adjust the method you use to treat the stain.
Once the belt material is identified, select the appropriate stain remover to use. For marker ink on synthetic fibers, pretreat the belt with a laundry pre-spotter product that can penetrate the fibers.
Afterward, fill a sink or bucket with lukewarm water and add a generous dose of laundry detergent. Then, soak belt in the solution for 30 minutes.
Once the belt has been soaked, launder it normally using cold-water setting on your washing machine. If possible, use a laundry detergent that’s designed to remove tough stains, such as Tide Rescue Pen Stain Remover Liquid . It’s also helpful to add a color-protecting bleach alternative product to prevent any fading.
Hang the belt up and allow it to completely air dry instead of putting it in dryer. This will help ensure the belt doesn’t shrink as a result of being laundered.
