Before attempting any other cleaning methods, absorb as much of the stain as possible by blotting it with a paper towel or an old cloth.
For stubborn stains, use a cotton ball or cotton swab to dab rubbing alcohol directly on the stain. Allow the alcohol to sit for a few minutes before blotting the area dry.
If rubbing alcohol fails to remove all of the marker, try using a specific stain remover. First, check the label of the remover to ensure that it is safe to use on delicate fabrics like Battenberg lace, then carefully apply remover to the stain. Boil the lace in water once stain has been removed.
Once you have finished soaking Battenberg lace in water, hang it up to air dry. Do not put it in dryer, as this could damage the delicate fabric.
