Whether it's a new shirt, pair of trousers, or skirt, last thing you want is for it to be ruined by unsightly marker stains--and that's especially true for garments from Banana Republic. Fortunately, you can easily eliminate these types of stains with some basic cleaning supplies.

What You'll Need:

  • Stain remover (or white vinegar and detergent)
  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • Clean cloth
  • Bowl

Instructions:

  1. Before attempting to remove the stain, read the garment care tag and make sure all materials listed are safe to use.
  2. Create a mixture of one part hydrogen peroxide and one part rubbing alcohol and apply this directly to stained area.
  3. Allow the solution to set in the stain for a few minutes before blotting with a clean cloth.
  4. Fill a bowl with a solution of 1/4 cup of white vinegar and 2-3 tablespoons of laundry detergent.
  5. Soak stained area for about 10-15 minutes.
  6. Take a clean cloth and blot area to remove any excess liquid.
  7. Rinse garment in cold water and then launder as usual.
  8. If desired, repeat process until all the marker has been removed.

It's important to always test the cleaning method in an inconspicuous spot like inside hemline, to make sure it won't damage the fabric. If you don't feel comfortable tackling the task yourself, consider taking the garment to a professional dry cleaner.
