Markers are convenient, but they can leave behind stubborn stains. Whether you're dealing with permanent marker or washable marker, you'll need the right supplies and techniques to get rid of the mark—without damaging your appliances. Here's how to clean marker stains from your kitchen appliances.

What You'll Need

  • White vinegar
  • Dishwashing detergent
  • Baking soda
  • Cotton swabs
  • Soft cloths or sponges

How To Clean Marker Stains From Appliances

Start by dampening a soft cloth or sponge in warm water. Use this to blot away any dirt and debris from the stain, being careful not to spread it around. Next, try using white vinegar to break down the stain. Simply pour some directly onto the stain and let it sit for at least 20 minutes. Again, use a soft cloth to wipe away the stain.

If the vinegar doesn't do trick, mix a small amount of dishwashing detergent with warm water, then apply it to the stained area with a cotton swab or soft cloth. After about 10 minutes, wipe away the solution with a clean cloth. If you find that there's still some residue leftover, try sprinkling baking soda onto the stain and letting it sit for a few minutes before wiping it away.

Keep in mind that it may take several attempts with different techniques to remove the stain completely. Be sure to always use gentle cleaning products and cloths on your appliances, as harsh chemicals or scrubbing can damage surfaces.
