The Basics: Removing Marker from Angora

To begin with, it’s important to note that Angora is an incredibly delicate fabric. Therefore, it’s important to be extra careful when attempting to remove marker stains from it. Here are steps to getting rid of marker stains from Angora:

  1. Begin by thoroughly blotting the stained area with a paper towel to remove any excess ink.
  2. Mix one tablespoon of liquid dish soap and one tablespoon of white vinegar with two cups of warm water in a spray bottle. Shake the bottle to combine the ingredients.
  3. Spray the stained area with this solution and let it sit for about five minutes.
  4. Rub stained area gently with an old toothbrush.
  5. Rinse the affected area with cold water.
  6. Repeat the process if necessary.
  7. If the stain remains, try soaking the garment in a mixture of one quart of warm water and one tablespoon of white vinegar for 30 minutes.
  8. Finally, launder garment as usual.

Additional Tips

  • Always test a small, hidden area of the garment before attempting to remove the mark with the above procedure.
  • Be sure to read and follow care instructions for Angora fabric.
  • For stubborn stains, mix one part rubbing alcohol with one part water and rub the stained area gently.
