Before you can start to remove the lipstick stain, it's important to identify the type of lipstick you're dealing with. This will determine what cleaning method is appropriate.
Once you've identified the type of lipstick, it's time to start pre-treating the stain. For oily and matte lipsticks, you can use dishwashing detergent and white vinegar to pre-treat the stain. Mix together one part detergent to two parts vinegar in a bowl, then apply the mixture to the stained area and work it into the fabric using an old toothbrush. Allow it to sit for 10 minutes before rinsing with cold water.
After pre-treating the stain, you can move on to washing the wrap dress. Use a grease-fighting laundry detergent and wash on lowest temperature setting possible. Once it's finished washing, inspect dress to make sure that the stain has been removed.
If the stain has not been completely removed, it's time to do a post-treatment. For creamy or long-lasting lipsticks, you can try using a non-gel toothpaste applied directly to the stain with a soft cloth. Leave the paste on for 10 minutes, then wash wrap dress again. Inspect after the wash to ensure that the stain has been removed.
Removing lipstick stains from wrap dresses can be a challenging task, but it's possible! With the right materials and knowledge, you can effectively and safely clean lipstick stains from your favourite wrap dress.
