How to Remove Stubborn Lipstick Stains from White Tie
Accidentally spilling lipstick on your white tie can feel like a disaster. But with the right tools and techniques, you can easily remove lipstick stains to restore your tie’s bright white look.

What You'll Need
- Dishwashing liquid
- Cotton swab or cloth
- Stain remover bar
- Laundry detergent
- White vinegar
Instructions
- Start by soaking the tie in warm water for 15 minutes. This will help loosen the stain.
- Mix a few drops of dishwashing liquid with a quarter cup warm water and dip a cotton swab or a piece of cloth into it.
- Gently blot the stained area with the damp cloth or swab. Do not rub the fabric too hard to avoid spreading the stain.
- If stain is still there, rub a stain remover bar over it. Make sure to gently rub the bar in circular motions.
- Rinse the tie with cold water. If stain persists, soak tie in a bowl of warm water mixed with a teaspoon of laundry detergent for 10 minutes.
- Now, rinse the tie in running cold water and check if the stain has faded.
- If the stain is still visible, mix equal parts of white vinegar and warm water and soak the tie in the mixture for 10 minutes.
- Finally, rinse tie with cold water and air dry it.
