Step 1: Scrape off Excess Lipstick

Using a spoon or dull knife, carefully scrape away any excess lipstick that remains on the velvet. This will help minimize the stain and make it easier to clean.

Step 2: Spot Clean the Stain

Mix together water and mild detergent or mild dish soap. Liberally spray the stained area with the liquid and dab it with a clean cloth. You may need to repeat this step several times.

Step 3: Rinse the Area

Once you've successfully removed the stain, rinse the spot with a damp cloth. Avoid scrubbing or rubbing the fabric, as this could cause damage.

Step 4: Dry the Fabric

Use a clean towel to gently pat dry the area. Make sure fabric is completely dry before using the velvet again.

Tips for Keeping Velvet Stain-Free

  • Cover velvet furniture with a throw or blanket to protect from spills.
  • If possible, avoid wearing lipstick when sitting on velvet furniture.
  • Clean up any spills as soon as possible.
