To start reducing the stain, first take a few paper towels or an old cloth, and blot at the stained area. This will help absorb some of excess colour, making cleaning much easier. Don’t rub, press gently!
Mix equal parts white vinegar and warm water in a bowl and apply it to the stain with a clean cloth. The acidity from the vinegar will break down the stain, and the water will help carry the colour away. Scrub gently in circular motions to get the colour out, then rinse with warm water. You may need to repeat this process a few times if stain is particularly bad.
Create a solution of mild dish soap and warm water, then use a cloth soaked in the soap suds to work the stain out. Rub gently over the affected area and rinse it away with cold water. Apply the solution as needed, until the stain is gone.
If the stain still persists despite your repeated treatments, try using medical alcohol. Dab a small amount directly onto the stain using a cotton swab, then use a damp cloth to massage the stain until it has lifted. Be careful not to saturate fabric with alcohol, as this could damage material. Rinse area with cold water afterwards.
Once the stain is completely gone, and you have rinsed the area with cold water, hang the garment up to air dry. You can also add a teaspoon of white vinegar to the rinse cycle as a preventive measure. This will help maintain the brightness of the clothes.
Removing lipstick stains from Tussah fabric doesn’t have to be a challenge. With these five simple steps, you can go from stained to fresh in no time. Good luck!
