Toys are an essential play item for children, but as any parent knows, they can quickly pick up dirt and stains (like lipstick) from regular use. Luckily, there are some easy and effective ways to help remove stains without damaging the plastic or fabric of a toy and restore them to their original look. Here's what you should do:

Using Rubbing Alcohol

For light to moderate lipstick stains on toys, using rubbing alcohol is a great way to remove them. All you'll need is a bottle of rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball. Soak cotton ball in rubbing alcohol until it’s completely saturated and then lightly dab the stained area until the stain has been lifted.

Be sure to test the rubbing alcohol on one small corner of toy to make sure that it won't damage the plastic or fabric coloring. Once you're certain it won't, go ahead and carefully treat the stained area with the rubbing alcohol-soaked cotton ball, being sure to rinse off cleaned area with lukewarm water after.

Using an Oil-Based Stain Remover

If the rubbing alcohol method doesn't work, you can also try using an oil-based stain remover, like those made for removing makeup. Simply dab the stain with the oil-based remover, and let it sit for a few minutes so that the oil can dissolve the stain. You may have to repeat this process multiple times until the stain is removed.

When you're done, rinse off the toy with lukewarm water and allow it to air dry before returning it to your little one.

Using Baking Soda and Vinegar

If you need a more heavy-duty approach to remove stubborn lipstick stains, try using baking soda and vinegar. Simply mix equal parts baking soda and vinegar together in a bowl, creating a paste.

Apply paste to the stained area and let it sit for a few minutes. Once the paste has had time to soak in, rub it in a circular motion on the stain to lift it out. Be sure to check that the paste isn't damaging the toy before using it.

Finally, rinse the toy off with lukewarm water and let it air dry for a few minutes before giving it back to your kiddo.

Conclusion

While lipstick stains can be tricky to remove from toys, they’re not impossible to get rid of! With the right materials and a little bit of patience, you can have your kids’ toys looking as good as new in no time.
