Once you notice the stain, quickly blot away as much of the excess lipstick as possible using a paper towel or a clean rag. Be sure to to use gentle pressure and avoid rubbing stain as this can cause it to spread or set further into the fabric.
Mix a solution of equal parts cold water and white vinegar and apply it directly to stain using a cotton swab or cloth. Allow the mixture to sit for 20-30 minutes before dabbing it off with a dry cloth.
Wash the stained area separately from the rest of the garment, in the hottest water recommended for the fabric. Make sure to use a detergent that is suitable for the type of fabric your tank top is made from. If possible, add some liquid oxygen bleach to the load for extra stain lifting power.
Hang the garment up to air dry or dry it on the lowest setting in your dryer. Check the back and front of the tank top periodically to ensure that the stain is no longer visible before removing it from dryer.
