If you are the victim of a lipstick mishap, don’t worry – you don’t have to waste money on an entirely new swimsuit. You can get lipstick stains out of your swimwear with just a few basic items.
Start by applying a pretreatment product directly onto the stain. If you don't have a pretreatment product, use a liquid detergent or laundry detergent and mix it with some water in a container. Take a clean cloth and saturate it with the mixture, making sure not to rub the material -- only dab.
Once the pre-treatment is in place, let it sit for 10 to 20 minutes so it can penetrate the fabric. Then rinse it off with cold running water to remove as much of the stain as possible.
Next, throw it in the washing machine and choose a cold-water cycle with mild detergent. Don't use fabric softener -- this will only set the stain further into the fabric. When the cycle finishes, check the fabric to make sure the stain has been completely removed.
Finally, air-dry the garment. Avoid putting it in dryer, as heat will set the stain permanently into fabric.
