If lipstick has stained your silk shantung, don't panic! Removing the stain is possible with some simple steps.
Begin by carefully blotting away any excess product or lipstick with a clean cloth or paper towel.
Pour a few drops of laundry detergent directly onto the stain and gently rub it in with your fingers or an old soft-bristled toothbrush. This will help to loosen and lift some of the pigment from the fabric.
Fill a basin with lukewarm water and a teaspoon of mild laundry detergent. Carefully submerge the stained area of the silk shantung into the basin and let it soak for 15 minutes. This will help further remove any lipstick residue and reduce the stain.
Rinse the fabric with cold water until the water runs clear. Gently press the fabric between two towels to remove as much moisture as possible. Hang or lay flat to air dry.
If stain persists, repeat steps 2-4 until the stain is completely gone.
With a little effort, you can easily remove lipstick stains from silk shantung and restore it to its natural beauty.
