Shantung is a luxurious fabric used for formal wear and other special occasions. Unfortunately, lipstick stains are common when wearing this type of fabric. Although it may sound daunting, removing these stains from your shantung garments isn't as difficult as it seems.

To pre-treat the stain, combine equal parts white vinegar and dish soap with a pinch of salt. Dip a cotton swab into the mixture and gently dab it onto stained area. Allow it to sit for 30 minutes before moving on to the next step.
Rinse the pre-treated area with cool water and blot it dry with paper towels. Do not rub or scrub the fabric, as this could cause damage.
Fill a sink or a washing machine with cool water. Add a small amount of liquid dish soap and agitate the water until suds form. Turn the garment inside out and submerge it in the soapy water. Let it soak for 10-15 minutes, then drain sink or washing machine.
Rinse the garment with cool water until the soap is completely gone. Gently squeeze out any excess water and hang the item up to dry.
