The first step is to identify what type of fabric your robe is made of. If it is natural fabric such as cotton or silk, you can use a solution of water and mild detergent. Mix one tablespoon of detergent with one gallon of warm water and add this to a large basin. Soak the robe for 30 minutes, then rinse with cool water. If the stain remains, repeat the process.

For more stubborn stains on synthetic fabrics, spray the stained area with hairspray and let it sit for five minutes. Then, use a sponge to apply a mixture of baking soda and warm water to stain and scrub gently. Rinse with cool water, and if necessary, repeat the process.

The next step is to create a cleaning solution with vinegar and liquid detergent. Mix one tablespoon of liquid detergent with one quart of white vinegar in a basin. Soak the robe for up to two hours, then rinse with cool water. If needed, repeat the process.

Finally, if all else fails, turn to a professional cleaner. Make sure to let them know type of fabric used in your robe, as well as the type of stain. Professional cleaners may have access to specialty products that can make job easier.
