Raincoats are almost always the go-to choice for staying dry when rain is in forecast. But what about when that dark red lipstick stain appears on your favorite raincoat? Don't panic – there are a few helpful tricks you can use to clean the stain and keep your raincoat looking as good as new.
The first step in cleaning a lipstick stain is to blot the area gently with a clean cloth or paper towel. This will help remove some of the excess lipstick and make the stain easier to remove. Be sure to use a blotting motion and not a wiping motion, as this may spread the stain further.
Once the excess lipstick has been removed, make a solution of one part mild detergent (such as liquid dish soap) and two parts warm water. Dip a clean cloth into the solution, then wring it out so that it is just damp. Gently rub the stained area in circular motions, being careful not to rub too hard.
If stain still remains after using soapy water solution, try scrubbing it with a soft-bristled brush. Use a light pressure and always work in small circles until you see stain begin to fade away. If the stain is still visible, repeat the steps above.
If the stain still remains, you may want to try applying a small amount of laundry pre-treatment to the area. Follow the instructions on the product and be sure to test it on a hidden area first to make sure it won't cause any damage. Once pre-treatment has been applied, allow it to sit for 15 minutes before washing garment as usual.
With these simple steps, you can easily clean and remove lipstick stains from raincoats. It may take a few tries, but eventually you'll be able to restore the coat without any sign of the stain.
