No matter how careful you are, sometimes makeup gets away from you and leaves stains on your things. One of the most common places of all to get stained is a purse, especially if it's a light-colored one. Lipstick stains can be particularly difficult since they often have a lot of pigment and oil in them. But even though they are stubborn, there are ways to clean them off. Here’s how:

Step 1: Gently Scrape Away the Excess Lipstick

The first step to getting rid of a lipstick stain is to gently scrape away any excess with a dull plastic knife or scalpel. Don’t be too aggressive, just take off what you can without damaging the fabric of the purse.

Step 2: Apply Rubbing Alcohol

Next, take a cotton ball or swab and apply some rubbing alcohol to it. Rub it over the area of the stain, being careful not to rub too hard and damage the fabric. If necessary, apply more rubbing alcohol. The alcohol should help to loosen and dissolve the lipstick.

Step 3: Blot up the Stain with a Damp Cloth

Once the rubbing alcohol has had time to work its magic, use a damp cloth to blot up the stain. Be sure to blot from outside inwards rather than scrubbing stain with the cloth. This should help to prevent any further spreading.

Step 4: Use a Stain Remover

If the lipstick stain still hasn’t been fully removed, you can try using a stain remover. Make sure that it is specifically formulated for use on fabrics, as some products may be too harsh and damage your purse. Apply stain remover according to the instructions on bottle, and then blot up with a damp cloth.

Step 5: Wash the Area with Soap and Water

Finally, you can wash area with soap and water. If possible, use a mild detergent to make sure that the fabric of the purse isn’t damaged. Once you’ve washed the area, allow it to air dry and voila, the lipstick stain should be gone!

Conclusion

Getting lipstick stains out of purses doesn’t have to be a daunting task. With the right methods and materials, you can have them off with ease. Don’t let stains stop you from rocking your favorite bag, just remember these steps and you should be good to go!
