Mix one teaspoon of liquid detergent with half a cup of warm water. If stain is particularly stubborn, choose a laundry detergent that contains enzymes. Soak a cloth or sponge with the solution and dab it onto the stain for several minutes. Do not rub the stain, as this will only set it deeper into the fabric.
Rinse the area with cool water, preferably by hand. Make sure to rinse out any soap residue that may remain after washing.
Mix equal parts white vinegar and water and dip a cloth or sponge in solution. Gently dab the stain for several minutes, then rinse the area with cool water.
Put the one-piece swimsuit in the machine on a gentle cycle, using cool water and a mild detergent. Allow the machine to fill with water and agitate for a few minutes before adding the garment. Add a color-safe bleaching agent, such as oxygen bleach, to help lighten the stain.
If the stain remains, repeat Steps 1-4 until it is gone. If the stain persists, it may be time to invest in a new swimsuit.
